Roberta Pugliese, Principal at Tassara-Ghislandi Vocational and Technical School in Breno, former member of the International Relations and Foreign Languages Unit for the Local Educational Authority [USR] in Lombardia and advisor for languages in the province of Brescia, is interviewed by Trinity's Senior Academic for English Language, Manuela Kelly Calzini.

Manuela and Roberta will discuss how English language education in Technical and Vocational schools builds on the competences attained in the lower secondary level and how it makes a fundamental contribution to technical and vocational training and orientation of students by equipping them to deal in English professionally in relevant work situation.

Given ongoing globalisation in the economic sector and on the labour market, in language activities specific to a profession and to a professional field, English language competence forms an important part of the professional ability to act. Especially in CLIL classes, the development of language competence relevant to the professional field is of great importance.
In addition, Roberta and Manuela will explore the opportunities for students to demonstrate the acquisition of their English language competences on the basis of the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" (CEFR) and International Certification.
